It's all about community...
"Then those 'sheep' are going to say, 'Master, what are you talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you, thirsty and give you a drink? And when did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you?' Then the King will say, 'I'm telling the solemn truth: Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.'"
Matthew 25:37-40 (MSG)
We believe an authentic church should strive to meet individual needs through relationships with others within our community. When additional care is required, our community care teams exist to meet the spiritual, emotional and physical needs in difficult life circumstances.
Common Ground (Saturday Morning Outreach)
Saturdays 8 - 11:30 AM
Every Saturday… even on holidays, many volunteers gather to serve those with the most need in our community. Anyone is welcome to come in for a hot breakfast and a short message. We translate into Spanish! Working with the local Food Bank, we give out bags of groceries and fresh produce (sometimes grown in our own Produce Garden!). Then guests can pick out clothing, shoes and linens from the Clothes Closet with items provided by generous people in our community, throughout the week. Contact email@example.com for more information.
Pastoral Partners are on site, Saturday, for prayer, community resources and someone to talk to. Call the front office to make an appointment with a Pastoral Partner during the week for questions about firewood, auto repairs and other resources available. They are also at the front of the auditorium after church serves for prayer. Pastoral Care also oversees Urgent Prayer, Hospital Visitation. Call 530.622.3231 to make an appointment.
Other Local Outreach
Winter Shelter: Green Valley is part of the winter rotating shelter in El Dorado County. Working with The Upper Room Green Valley opens its doors to the homeless in our community. Friday night, November - March, Green Valley provides a warm place to stay, a hot shower, clean clothes and a warm breakfast the next morning along with groceries to go. If you are interested in being part of this, or if your church would like to help, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Firewood Ministry: Every Saturday, November through March, The Firewood Ministry splits, stacks and distributes firewood to people who have met with a Pastoral Partner. This is a great way to serve with your family!
Produce Garden: April through September, volunteers prepare, plant, maintain and harvest fruits and vegetables in our produce garden. Providing fresh produce to Common Ground is both healthy and rewarding.
Auto Ministry: Twice a week, skilled mechanics gather to volunteer up in the Auto Ministry, fixing cars for single moms and others who cannot do it on their own. You pay for the parts and they provide the free labor. Please meet with a Pastoral Partner to see if you qualify. We gladly accept auto donations to help provide safe vehicles for single moms. If you have a car that you would like to offer as a tax-deductible donation, please contact us!
Visitation Ministry: Sharing the love and hope of Jesus Christ, with those that are incarcerated in our county.
El Dorado County has many resources for the community. As we partner with various agencies through our Community Leadership Luncheons, we add contact information on our Community Resources page.
